    Description

    When your truck build demands factory shifter positioning, standard TKX configurations fall short. MDL's modified TREMEC TKX solves the tall body shifter challenge with precision machining and custom component integration that brings the shifter stub up to the OE truck position. This isn't a bolt-on shifter - it's a completely reworked transmission with the tall body shifter housing integrated as part of the unit. Every modified TKX is hand-prepared at MDL's Caldwell, Idaho facility to ensure quality and precision.

    The TREMEC TKX represents the next generation in 5-speed design with its compact end-loading architecture. This layout delivers greater tunnel clearance, increased case strength from the ribbed three-piece aluminum housing, and fewer case seams with gaskets at all mating surfaces to eliminate fluid leaks. The slim profile fits most transmission tunnels without floor modifications while the robust internal design handles serious power.

    Shifting performance comes from multi-cone synchronizers and sintered carbon/bronze hybrid synchronizer rings with a non-leading tooth profile - enabling smooth, positive engagement even at 7,500 RPM. Tapered roller bearings on the input, output, and countershafts reduce noise and improve performance, while a caged needle bearing supports the mainshaft. The single-piece countershaft and oversized gear widths increase torque-carrying capacity across all gears.

    The Ford Wide Pattern bellhousing interface provides broad compatibility with Ford applications. Both mechanical (7-tooth cable drive) and electronic (OSS two-wire analog) speedometer outputs are built in, along with a reverse light switch on the left side and cruise control safety switch on the right. MDL extends TREMEC's manufacturer warranty by an extra year with a 1-year grace period and includes lifetime technical support. Recommended lubricants include Dexron III ATF, Amsoil ATF, TREMEC HP-MTF, or Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF.
