    Description

    This MDL-modified TREMEC TKX solves the shifter placement challenge that plagues many Ford swaps. The stock TKX offers three factory shifter positions, but Ford applications often demand additional adjustment to clear consoles, bench seats, or floor bracing. MDL's exclusive 2" left side shifter configuration moves the shifter left from centerline and includes both 1" and 1.5" forward offset shift stubs - giving you precise control over shifter placement. This configuration is not available through TREMEC; it is an MDL exclusive modification.

    The TKX was designed from the ground up specifically for the aftermarket, not adapted from an OEM application. The result is a compact, end-loading case that fits inside many stock classic car and truck transmission tunnels without floor modifications. The three-piece ribbed aluminum housing delivers outstanding structural stiffness while keeping weight to just 99 lbs dry. Gaskets at all flanges eliminate fluid leaks and simplify installation.

    Inside, the TKX delivers the shift quality that made TREMEC's Magnum 6-speed legendary. Multi-cone synchronizers with hybrid sintered bronze and carbon rings enable confident shifts at up to 7,500 RPM. Special chamfers and dedicated ball detents for each of the three shift rails eliminate the notchy feel that plagued earlier 5-speeds. All gears and shafts are machined from special-grade ASTM 4615 steel, with oversized gear widths for maximum durability under the 600 lb-ft torque rating.

    This Ford-pattern TKX uses the Ford wide bellhousing bolt pattern and a 26-spline input shaft for broad clutch compatibility. The 31-spline output shaft accepts Ford C6-style slip yokes. TREMEC recommends HP-MTF, Dexron-III, GM Synchromesh, Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF, or Pennzoil Synchromesh lubricants. Both mechanical and electronic speedometer outputs are standard for maximum versatility across build combinations.
