This MDL-exclusive TREMEC TKX solves that problem with a custom 2" left side shift front shifter configuration featuring 1" left, straight up or 0.5" forward positioning -- a setup not available through TREMEC or any other distributor. When your driving position, roll cage, or center console dictates exactly where the shifter must fall, this is the transmission that gets it there.
The TKX platform delivers serious competition credentials: 600 lb-ft torque capacity handles big-block power while multi-cone synchronizers with hybrid sintered bronze and carbon rings enable clean shifts right up to 7,500 RPM. The close-ratio gear set (2.87, 1.89, 1.28, 1.00, 0.68) keeps you in the powerband through technical sections, while the 0.68:1 overdrive provides efficient cruising between events. All gears and shafts are machined from special-grade ASTM 4615 steel for maximum durability under competition loads.
TREMEC's revolutionary end-loading case design creates the slimmest 5-speed on the market, solving tunnel clearance problems that have plagued classic car builders for decades. The ribbed three-piece aluminum housing -- main case, intermediate plate, and rear extension -- delivers outstanding structural stiffness while weighing just 99 lbs dry. Gaskets at all flanges eliminate fluid leaks, and caged needle bearings in all gear positions reduce NVH and extend service life.
Direct bolt-in to Ford wide-pattern bellhousings with 26-spline input shaft compatibility. Both mechanical and analog electric speedometer provisions are included. Accepts ATF Dexron III fluid (2.7-quart capacity). This side-shift configuration is an MDL exclusive -- not available through TREMEC or standard distribution channels.
