The TKX platform delivers race-ready performance with its multi-cone synchronizer package featuring sintered carbon/bronze hybrid construction. This advanced synchronizer design eliminates the shift quality issues that plagued earlier five-speeds at high engine speeds, enabling smooth, positive engagement at 7,500 RPM shifts while the engine screams toward its 8,000 RPM ceiling. The internal three-rail shift system with steel shift forks provides the robust, notchy feel that road racers expect when banging through gears under pressure.
The end-loading case architecture is what sets the TKX apart from legacy five-speeds. The slim-line, three-piece aluminum housing creates a narrower profile that clears most transmission tunnels without extensive floor work, while the ribbed construction delivers increased structural stiffness critical for repeated competition stress. Wide gear widths, caged needle bearings in all gear positions, and gears/shafts machined from ASTM 4615 special grade steel ensure durability under sustained high-load conditions. Tapered roller bearings on input, output, and countershafts reduce NVH while improving longevity.
The close-ratio gear set (2.87 first, 0.68 overdrive) keeps your engine in its powerband during aggressive driving while providing a highway-friendly cruise ratio.
