    Description

    When your shifter needs to land in exactly the right spot without cutting floor pans or compromising shift quality, this MDL-exclusive side shift TKX delivers. The TKX already features the slimmest 5-speed case on the market for improved tunnel clearance, but sometimes even that isn't enough. Our custom offset shifter stub positions the shift lever 3" to the left and moves it rearward by .65" or 1.15" backward--taking all the guesswork out of shifter placement in tight cockpits where the narrow shift body will clear the shifter hole without cutting the floor.

    This road race-spec TKX handles 600 lb-ft of torque and engine speeds up to 8,000 RPM with shift capability at 7,500 RPM. The close-ratio gear set (2.87 first through 0.81 overdrive) keeps your engine in the power band during aggressive driving. Multi-cone synchronizers with hybrid synchronizer rings made of sintered bronze and carbon deliver smooth, positive shifts even at redline, while ASTM 4615 special-grade steel gears and shafts provide the strength to handle serious power.

    The end-loading case design creates a slimmer profile for better tunnel clearance and increased structural stiffness via the ribbed, 3-piece aluminum housing. The 26-spline input and 31-spline output shafts are built for durability, while the integrated speedometer drives work with both mechanical and electronic setups. This GM-pattern TKX bolts directly to standard Muncie/Richmond bellhousings and takes 2.7 quarts of Dexron III ATF (or TREMEC HP-MTF, GM Synchromesh, Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF, or Pennzoil Synchromesh).

    This is an MDL exclusive modification not available through TREMEC. The side front socket positioning with custom offset shifter stub eliminates the need for floor modifications while putting your shifter exactly where you need it for optimal ergonomics and control.
