    Description

    When standard shifter positioning won't work for your GM build, this TREMEC TKX configuration delivers the solution. The side-shift rear socket positioning with a 1.65" or 2.15" forward offset provides precise shifter placement for custom installations, bench seat setups, or floor pan geometries that demand non-standard locations. This is the same bulletproof TKX platform - just configured for builders who need the lever exactly where they need it.

    The TKX was designed from the ground up specifically for the aftermarket, not adapted from an OEM application. The compact, end-loaded architecture provides exceptional tunnel clearance - fitting GM A-bodies like Chevelle, GTO, Cutlass, Nova, and Camaro without floor modifications. That slim profile comes without sacrificing strength: the ribbed 3-piece aluminum housing (main case, intermediate plate, and rear extension) delivers outstanding structural stiffness while gaskets at all flanges eliminate leak points and simplify installation.

    Inside, TREMEC engineers specified ASTM 4615 special-grade steel for all gears and shafts, with wide gear widths and caged needle bearings in all gear positions to maximize durability. Multi-cone synchronizers paired with hybrid rings made of sintered bronze and carbon deliver smooth, precise shifts even at 7,500 RPM. The high-performance short-throw billet aluminum shifter isolates road noise while providing clean, crisp engagement through the internal three-rail shift system with steel shift forks.

    The 3.27 first gear ratio provides strong acceleration off the line, while the 0.72 overdrive fifth gear drops cruising RPMs for improved fuel economy and reduced engine wear on the highway. With 600 lb-ft of continuous torque capacity, this TKX handles serious horsepower from small-block, big-block, and LS-swapped applications. Bolts directly to any bellhousing built for the GM Muncie/Richmond pattern.
