This MDL-modified TREMEC TKX delivers exactly that - a 600 lb-ft torque capacity with the close-ratio gear spread that keeps your engine in its powerband through technical sections where momentum is everything.
The 2.87 first gear through 0.81 overdrive configuration eliminates the RPM gaps that kill corner exit speed. TREMEC's multi-cone synchronizers with sintered bronze and carbon hybrid rings enable clean, crisp shifts even under heavy braking and aggressive downshifts at competition speeds. The internal three-rail shift system with steel shift forks provides the mechanical precision serious drivers require.
MDL's custom shifter modification places the lever 2" left of center line with a 1" or 1.5" backward offset stub - precisely located for optimal ergonomics in race-prepped cockpits where every inch of shift throw matters. The ribbed three-piece aluminum housing with oversized gear widths and caged needle bearings delivers the structural rigidity and durability demanded by sustained high-load operation. All gears and shafts are machined from special-grade ASTM 4615 steel for maximum torque-carrying capacity.
This GM-pattern TKX bolts directly to Muncie and Richmond bellhousings, making it a straightforward swap for vintage Corvettes, GTOs, Chevelles, Camaros, and other GM muscle. The slim end-loading case design fits most factory tunnels without floorpan surgery. Fluid capacity is 2.7 quarts using ATF Dexron III, TREMEC HP-MTF, or equivalent.
