Description
When installing a Wilwood Forward Mount Brake and Clutch Pedal Assembly with flange-mounted compact remote master cylinders, proper firewall integration is critical. This billet aluminum Firewall Mounting Kit from Wilwood provides the structural mounting platform and clean engine bay presentation that a professional-grade hydraulic system demands. The kit is specifically engineered to work with Wilwood's Forward Mount Pedal Assembly (available from MDL as MD-402-11295) and flange-mounted compact remote master cylinders.
The mounting plates recess the master cylinder mounting surface by 0.25", which creates additional clearance in crowded engine compartments where every fraction of an inch matters. Both the engine compartment faceplate and interior mounting plate are machined from billet aluminum with a media burnished finish, delivering that high-tech, race-inspired look without relying on paint or plating that can chip or corrode. The recessed design also positions the master cylinders closer to the firewall plane, optimizing pushrod geometry.
Installation requires a minimum flat mounting area of 4" x 8" on the firewall, with six 0.265" through-holes drilled per the included template. The kit accepts firewall material thickness ranging from 0.040" to 0.080", covering most custom and OEM sheetmetal gauges. Note that this mounting configuration requires a remote reservoir—the distance between the master cylinder fluid inlet and mounting flange is insufficient for direct-mount reservoirs. Use the plastic remote reservoir included with Wilwood master cylinder kits or upgrade to a billet reservoir with braided stainless lines.
