T-5 transmissions are perfect for first gen Mustangs with an inline 170ci engine and 2.77 3 speed transmission and are installed without modications. The 2.95:1 first gear ratio with an optional .73:1 od that we recommend to prevent over loading the 170 engine. Our offset shifter slides into the OEM shifter hole with the correct back to retain the stock shifter position. Using the stock bellhousing keeps cost down and retain the clutch linkage, fork, and and related parts.
