Description
Transmission swaps often leave the shifter in the wrong spot - too far back, too far forward, or buried under a console. The MDL Qwik Stik solves this problem with precision-machined billet aluminum shifter assemblies that mount directly to your TREMEC TKO500 or TKO600, repositioning the shift lever exactly where you need it without cutting sheet metal or compromising ergonomics.
This front shift configuration positions the shifter 1" to the left of center with your choice of straight up or 0.500" backward stub offset, accommodating tight console clearances while maintaining comfortable reach. The compact top turret clears factory tunnel openings that would require modification with bulkier shifters. Red anodizing protects the aluminum from corrosion and heat while giving the assembly a clean, finished appearance.
The short-throw mechanism dramatically reduces shift effort compared to the stock TREMEC shifter. Belleville washers in the detent system provide positive gate engagement, eliminating the vague 2-3 shift feel that plagues some aftermarket units. Unlike shifters that rely on external stops - which can break under aggressive use - this design uses the transmission's internal stops. All TREMEC transmissions have internal stops and cannot be over-shifted, so external stops are unnecessary failure points.
The 7/8" on-center mounting pattern on the shift stub accepts most aftermarket shift levers, including Hurst. A steel rear cover plate caps off the factory rear shifter location, and a high-temperature lower dust boot protects the assembly from road debris and heat. Compatible with TREMEC TKO500 and TKO600 transmissions. Made in the USA with lifetime technical support from MDL.
