Description
TREMEC TKO transmissions ship from the factory configured as rear-shift, which puts the shift lever where a Muncie or Toploader used to sit. That works for some builds, but street rods, bench seat trucks, and plenty of classic muscle cars need the shifter farther forward to clear consoles or simply feel right in your hand. Converting to front shift solves the placement problem, but then you still need to dial in left offset and forward or backward positioning for your specific chassis. The MDL Qwik Stik handles both challenges in a single precision-engineered package.
This shifter assembly mounts in the front shift (forward) position on TKO 500 and TKO 600 transmissions, moving your gear lever significantly forward compared to the factory rear location. The 2" left offset combined with the adjustable 1.3" or 1.8" backward stub positioning lets you fine-tune exactly where the shift knob lands - critical for fitting factory consoles or getting comfortable ergonomics in a bench seat application. The included rear cover plate caps the unused factory shifter socket, completing the conversion.
Built from billet aluminum with an anodized finish, the Qwik Stik features a compact top turret profile designed to pass through existing floor openings without cutting or fabrication. The high-temperature lower dust boot protects internals from the elements while the Belleville spring detent system delivers crisp, positive gate engagement without the breakable plastic stops found on other shifters. When components do need service, the design allows easy access without removing the entire assembly.
