The stock TREMEC TKO shifter works, but its bulky turret and mediocre detent feel leave room for improvement—especially when you're trying to fit the transmission into a tight tunnel without cutting sheetmetal. The MDL Qwik Stik solves both problems with a compact, precision-machined billet aluminum shifter that delivers shorter throws, crisper engagement, and a smaller footprint where it matters most.
Engineering starts with the reduced-profile top turret. Where factory shifters often force floor modifications, the Qwik Stik's compact design clears standard tunnel openings, saving you fabrication time and preserving your floorpan. The billet aluminum construction shaves weight compared to cast units while the anodized finish protects against corrosion and wear. Belleville washers replace conventional spring detents, delivering consistent pressure for that satisfying click into gear—particularly noticeable on the critical 2-3 upshift under power.
The no-stops design is a deliberate upgrade over OEM shifters. Rigid stops can fatigue and break under aggressive use; eliminating them removes a common failure point and makes internal servicing straightforward when needed. The 7/8-inch on-center stub mounting accepts most aftermarket shift levers, giving you flexibility in handle selection and final throw length.
