    Description

Installing a TREMEC TKX 5-speed in your classic muscle car or full-size Ford often means the stock shifter position lands nowhere near your factory console or floor opening. The MDL Qwik Stik Shifter solves this problem by relocating your shift point up and into factory position, eliminating the awkward reach and sloppy feel of makeshift adapters. This shifter is purpose-built for builds where the transmission tunnel geometry demands precise shifter placement - think early Galaxies, A-body GMs, and X-body Novas.

The engineering starts with CNC-machined billet aluminum plates that bolt directly to your TKX's rear shifter location, creating a solid, flex-free foundation. The short-throw design uses a close-ratio shift pattern for fast, accurate gear changes, while Belleville washers provide a consistent detent feel that won't degrade over time. Unlike conventional shifters with mechanical stops that wear out and break, this stopless design allows easy servicing and delivers smooth, consistent gate engagement mile after mile.

The 2" left offset positions the stub where it needs to be, with options for straight-up or 0.5" backward to dial in your exact console geometry. The socket mounts in the front position while the shifter sits in the rear position on the TKX case. Note that tunnel modification is required for all listed applications except 1968-1974 Nova. MDL highly recommends pairing this shifter with an MDL Side Shift Front transmission configuration for optimal clearance and performance.

The 7/8-inch on-center mounting pattern accepts most aftermarket shift levers, so you can run your preferred stick and knob setup. Simply attach your shift lever, boot, and shift knob to complete the installation. Proudly crafted 100% in the USA with lifetime technical support from the MDL team.

MDL Highly recommends using an MDL Side Shift Rear modified transmission

    FAQs

    Q. Why do I need a different shifter? A. The MDL Qwik Stik has a smaller top turret to clear the tunnel shifter opening. It is a short-throw shifter with lightning quick response, it is anodized for long life and has no stops to break or replace, as well as many other features over the stock shifter.
