Description
Hydraulic release bearing seals are critical components - when they fail, you get fluid leaks and a spongy or non-functional clutch pedal. But installing replacement seals without proper tooling is asking for trouble. The quad-tensioner element of Tilton's mono-seal design can easily be displaced during installation, resulting in immediate fluid bypass and a non-functioning HRB. This seal installation tool eliminates that risk with precision-machined guides that ensure perfect alignment every time.
The tool uses a simple three-step process: place the billet aluminum inner and outer guides into position, lubricate the seal with the included rubber grease (flat side facing up toward the piston), then use the piston supplied with your HRB to press the seal squarely into the bore. The guides center everything precisely, preventing the cocked or rolled seals that plague makeshift installation attempts.
This tool is compatible with all Tilton 600, 6000, 3000, 4000, 5000, and 8000 Series hydraulic release bearings. It does not work with 700-Series or 9000-Series HRBs, which require different tooling. If you're running a Tilton HRB on your TREMEC transmission and plan to service it yourself, this tool pays for itself the first time you avoid a botched seal installation.
