Description
When you swap transmissions, change rear axle ratios, or bolt on different tire sizes, your speedometer no longer reads correctly. This 19-tooth driven gear lets you recalibrate for accurate readings by changing the gear ratio between your transmission's output and the speedometer cable. It's the driven gear -- the one that mounts to the speedometer cable end and inserts into the transmission tailhousing.
The pink color follows Ford's standardized identification system, making it easy to confirm the tooth count at a glance when you're sorting through your parts bin or comparing against your current setup. If your speedometer reads too fast with your current gear, stepping up to this 19-tooth unit will slow the reading. Each additional tooth changes the speedometer reading by approximately 5-6%. If you need an even higher tooth count, 21-tooth is the largest available in the driven gear; beyond that, you'll need to reduce the drive gear size instead.
This gear fits all Ford T5, T45, and Ford T56 transmissions, as well as all TREMEC TKO, TKX, and T56 Magnum units. Installation is straightforward: remove the speedometer cable from the tailhousing, swap the driven gear, and reinstall.
