Description
When you swap from a factory four-speed to a modern T5, TKO, or TKX five-speed, the speedometer cable routing changes completely. These TREMEC transmissions position the mechanical speedometer drive on the driver's (left) side of the case, meaning your original cable won't reach - and trying to force an ill-fitting cable creates binding, premature wear, and inaccurate readings.
This application-specific speedometer cable solves that problem for '67-'68 Mustang and Cougar owners. The 5/8" barrel-style connector interfaces correctly with the Ford speedometer head, while the 63" overall length provides the reach needed for proper left-side routing without binding or excessive slack. The result is a clean installation that keeps your factory speedometer functioning accurately with your new overdrive transmission.
Beyond T5 and TKO/TKX manual swaps, this cable also works for AOD automatic conversions in '67-'68 Mustang and Cougar applications. Falcon owners converting to five-speed can use this cable when paired with MDL front-shift tailhousings or front-shift T5 packages. If you're upgrading to modern overdrive and want to keep your factory speedometer working, this is the cable that makes it happen.
