Description
Swapping a TREMEC TKO or TKX five-speed into your C2 Corvette requires a driveshaft engineered specifically for the conversion. Factory shafts won't work - the TKO/TKX features a 31-spline output shaft that uses a larger Ford C6-style slip yoke, plus the transmission's overall length differs from the original Muncie or Powerglide it replaces. This steel driveshaft solves both problems with a custom-length assembly built to your vehicle's exact measurements.
The 2" diameter DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) seamless steel tubing delivers 15% more strength than OEM construction while providing the tight dimensional tolerances that eliminate vibration at speed. Unlike standard electric-welded tubing, DOM construction has no weld seam to remove or align, resulting in superior initial balance and reduced manufacturing corrections. The seamless construction also eliminates weak points found in welded tubes, critical when transmitting power from modified small blocks and big blocks.
The removable 31-spline forged steel slip yoke simplifies transmission service - drop the driveshaft from the rear yoke and slide it out without removing the entire assembly. Paired with proven 1310 U-joints, this setup handles the torque output from TREMEC TKO and TKX transmissions while maintaining smooth operation. Each shaft is high-speed balanced and finished with durable black paint for corrosion resistance.
