    Description

Swapping to a 5 or 6-speed manual throws off your factory speedometer calibration because the transmission's final drive ratio doesn't match your OE speedo gear setup. This 6-tooth black drive gear lets you recalibrate for deep rear axle ratios, restoring accurate speedometer and odometer readings without electronic tuners or ratio adapters.

Cable-driven speedometer accuracy depends on the correct combination of four factors: drive gear tooth count, driven gear tooth count, tire diameter, and rear axle ratio. The 6-tooth configuration is perfect for steep gears like 4.10s--pair it with a pink 19-tooth driven gear to dial in your speedo exactly. The drive gear mounts on the transmission output shaft and turns the driven gear, which spins the speedometer cable at the correct rate for accurate readings.

This is a genuine TREMEC part, precision molded for exact fit on Ford 28-spline output shafts. It works on all Ford T5 transmissions. Also compatible with MDL tail housings. Note: Installation requires the removal of the transmission and tail shaft housing to access the output shaft. Not for GM Camaro, S-10, or 27-spline applications.

    FAQs

    Q. Why do I need to change my speedo gear? A. The 5 or 6-speed transmission's final drive ratio will not work with your OE speedo gear, and we want your speedometer to read accurately.
