Unlike stamped steel "performance" clutches with an afterthought floater plate, the ST-246 was designed from the ground up as a true twin-disc system. The aluminum pressure plate cover shares technology from Tilton's championship-winning OT-Series racing clutches, while the floater plate thickness is double that of most competitors--eliminating gear chatter and providing superior heat dissipation.
The sprung-hub organic discs dampen engine vibrations and reduce gearbox noise while providing smooth engagement characteristics that make this clutch completely streetable at its full 850 lb-ft capacity. The billet chromoly flywheel features an integrated ring gear and precision register that eliminates the loose-fitting bolts and dowels used in stamped steel designs, delivering optimal balance right out of the box.
