Description
Modern Hemi builds pushing serious power need a clutch that can handle the torque without sacrificing drivability. This Tilton ST-246 twin-disc assembly delivers 1250 lb-ft of holding capacity with cerametallic discs - enough for heavily modified 5.7L, 6.1L, 6.2L Hellcat, and 6.4L applications paired with a TREMEC T56 Magnum 6-speed. Unlike most "performance" clutches that start with a stamped steel OEM-style pressure plate and bolt on a floater as an afterthought, the ST-246 was designed from the ground up as a true twin-disc system using technology proven in F1, NASCAR, IMSA, and IndyCar competition.
The precision-machined aluminum clutch cover shares technology with Tilton's OT-Series racing clutches, delivering superior strength, stiffness, and dynamic balance compared to stamped steel designs. High-mass pressure and floater plates are machined from the same proprietary materials used in Tilton's racing clutches, providing exceptional heat capacity and warp resistance under repeated high-torque launches. Heavy-duty straps connect the plates to the cover, eliminating the noise and inconsistent release characteristics that plague lesser twin-disc setups. The cerametallic discs feature solid center hubs for maximum strength and the positive, precise engagement characteristics serious street/strip builds demand.
The billet chromoly steel flywheel features an integrated 130-tooth ring gear and a precision register bore that locates the clutch assembly for optimal rotational balance. This eliminates the loose-fitting bolts and dowel pins used in stamped steel designs that create vibration and accelerate bearing wear. Zero-balanced specifically for Mopar Gen 3 Hemi engines, the flywheel provides the thermal mass needed for consistent performance while reducing rotating weight compared to OEM units.
Disc splines are 29 x 1-1/8", compatible with the 26-spline input shaft found on TREMEC T56 Magnum transmissions. Designed for hydraulic release systems. Does not include pilot bearing or throwout bearing - select components appropriate for your bellhousing and release system.
