Description
The Qwik Stik solves the most common problem with TKX swaps in classic GM muscle: getting the shifter to come up through the factory console opening. The TKX's compact case fits tight tunnels, but its stock shifter position rarely lines up with original console cutouts. This precision-machined shifter relocates the lever exactly where it needs to be—2" left and .65" or 1.15" backward from the transmission's rear position—putting your shift knob right where the factory intended.
The engineering goes beyond simple relocation. Belleville washers create positive detent feel without traditional stops, which means crisp engagement through all gears and nothing to break under hard use. When service time comes, the stopless design lets you pull the shifter without fighting worn or damaged stop hardware. The short-throw geometry matches the TKX's high-RPM shift capability—a transmission rated at 600 lb-ft of torque and engineered for shifts at 7,500 RPM deserves a shifter that can keep up.
Billet aluminum construction shaves weight while the anodized finish resists corrosion and wear. The 7/8" on-center stub mounting accepts most aftermarket shift levers, so you can run your preferred lever and knob setup. A high-temperature lower dust/oil boot seals the transmission from contamination. MDL highly recommends pairing this shifter with their Side Shift Front transmission configuration for optimal results in these applications.
Ideal fitment for 1959-1964 Impala with automatic console, 1964-1967 GTO, LeMans, and Oldsmobile Cutlass applications. Made in the USA with lifetime tech support from MDL.
MDL Highly recommends using an MDL side shift front modified transmission.
