Description
T56 swaps into classic builds get complicated fast when you need to wire speedometers, activate the reverse lockout solenoid, and run backup lights. Before this harness existed, you were hunting down up to five separate components and splicing together multiple circuits just to make the transmission's electronics work properly. This 3-in-One harness consolidates all three critical T56 electronic functions into a single, pre-wired solution that connects directly to your Borg-Warner GM T56 from a 1998-2002 Camaro or Firebird.
The reverse lockout on the T56 is a solenoid-controlled pin that uses spring pressure against the shift rail to prevent accidental shifts into reverse when reaching for 5th gear. Without proper control, you're either muscling past the spring every time you back up, or risking an unlocked gate at highway speeds if you wire to the brake switch. This harness replicates OE-style speed-based control: the epoxy-sealed microprocessor monitors vehicle speed and unlocks reverse at 0-3 MPH while locking it out above 4 MPH. You can adjust these thresholds through the free Bluetooth smartphone app to match your driving preferences.
For speedometer integration, the harness delivers two completely independent VSS outputs. Each generates a square wave signal from approximately -5V to +5V, but automatically shifts to 0V to +10V when your ECM requires a positive-only signal. The outputs come pre-configured as GM 40-pulse on one channel and 16-pulse on the other, covering most common speedometer and ECM requirements. Both pulse counts and ratios are independently adjustable through the app, so you can drive a classic speedometer on one output while feeding a different signal to your ECM or cruise control on the other. The reverse light circuit uses a single output wire to the positive side of your backup lights with local grounding at the bulb socket.
This MD-700-0102 version features the Borg-Warner GM VSS connector specifically for 1998-2002 non-Magnum T56 transmissions. Will not work for Ford or Viper applications.
