    Description

    Stop crawling through junkyards for usable T-56 cores. The pool of quality F-body T-56 replacement parts has been shrinking for years, leaving fourth-gen Camaro and Firebird owners with limited options: hunt for salvage transmissions of questionable condition, or pay for over-hyped "Stage 6" rebuilds using inferior offshore components. The TREMEC Magnum-F eliminates both problems by delivering a brand-new, purpose-built 6-speed with 700 lb-ft of torque capacity and the F-body-specific shifter location that makes it a direct swap.

    Built on the proven TR-6060/Magnum architecture found in today's factory muscle cars, the Magnum-F packs serious engineering advantages over the original T-56. All gears feature substantially increased face width, and the 4616 chromoly gears and shafts use two-piece laser-beam welded construction for superior control of tooth angles, pitch, and alignment. A robust combination of double and triple cone synchronizers delivers crisp engagement, while enhanced webbing in the main case adds strength. Provisions for an external cooler circuit handle the thermal demands of high-performance applications.

    This wide-ratio variant (TUET17638) features a 2.97 first gear paired with ultra-tall 0.74 fifth and 0.50 sixth gear overdrives - perfect for pro-touring builds, highway cruisers, and street machines that need strong launch capability plus relaxed freeway RPM. The isolator-type shifter, similar to the unit found on the Magnum XL and late-model OEM applications, reduces cabin noise and vibration without sacrificing the short throws and communicative shift feel that define the Magnum experience.

    Designed first and foremost as a direct replacement for 1998-2002 LS1-powered F-bodies, the Magnum-F also fits third-generation F-bodies and 1993-1997 LT1 models with minimal modification. The unique shifter location - positioned between the standard Magnum (too far forward) and the Magnum XL (too far back) - also makes it ideal for sport compact applications like A80 Supras and FD RX-7s. Note: Requires 31-spline slip yoke (replaces stock 27-spline) and driveshaft modifications. 1993-1997 LT1 applications require push-style clutch conversion. Fluid capacity is 4 quarts; use TREMEC HP-MTF, GM Synchromesh, or Dexron III ATF.
