Description
When you're pushing serious horsepower through a Gen 6 Camaro SS/ZL1 or C7 Corvette, the factory clutch becomes the limiting factor. The Tilton ST-246 twin-disc clutch system delivers 1250 lb-ft of holding power with the positive, precise engagement characteristics that street/strip builds demand - without the harshness and chatter of cheap stamped-steel twin-disc alternatives.
Unlike OEM-style performance clutches that simply add a floater plate to a stamped steel pressure plate, the ST-246 was engineered from the ground up as a true twin-disc clutch. The precision-machined aluminum cover shares technology directly from Tilton's championship-winning OT-Series racing clutches, delivering high strength, stiffness, and better dynamic balance than any stamped steel design. Heavy-duty straps connect the pressure plate and floater plate to the cover, minimizing noise and ensuring clean clutch release every time.
The high-mass main pressure plate and floater plate are machined from the same proprietary materials used in Tilton's racing clutches, providing exceptional heat capacity and resistance to warpage. That floater plate is twice the thickness of most competing twin-disc designs - eliminating gear clatter, allowing the use of solid-hub discs for maximum torque capacity, and dramatically improving heat dissipation during aggressive driving. The solid-hub cerametallic discs provide the precise, positive engagement that street/strip applications demand.
The billet chromoly steel flywheel features a precision register that locates the clutch assembly for optimal balance - a far cry from the loose-fitting bolts and dowels used with stamped steel clutches. This kit is designed exclusively for 2016+ Camaro Gen 6 and 2014-2019 C7 Corvette applications with factory TR-6060 transmissions and 26-spline input shafts. Since 1972, Tilton Engineering has been the leading supplier of small-diameter racing clutches, winning championships in F1, NASCAR, IMSA, IndyCar, SCCA, Formula Drift, and SCORE.
