    Description

    When your Small Block or Big Block Chevy build demands serious holding power, generic twin-disc setups with stamped steel pressure plates fall short. The Tilton ST-246 was engineered from the ground up as a true performance twin-disc clutch - not an OEM-type stamped steel pressure plate with a floater added. This complete clutch and flywheel assembly handles 1250 lb-ft of torque through advanced engineering that Tilton has proven across nearly 50 years of racing clutch development.

    The precision-machined aluminum clutch cover shares technology from Tilton's championship-winning OT-Series racing clutches, featuring heavy-duty straps that attach the pressure plate and floater plate to minimize noise and provide clean clutch release. The floater plate is twice the thickness of most competitors, which eliminates the gear rattle that plagues thin-plate designs while providing superior heat dissipation for consistent performance under demanding street/strip use.

    The high-mass main pressure plate and floater plate are machined from the same proprietary materials used in Tilton's racing clutches, providing high heat capacity and resistance to warpage. The solid-hub cerametallic discs deliver positive, precise engagement characteristics ideal for street/strip applications where maximum holding power is non-negotiable. Unlike sprung-hub organic designs, the solid hub construction provides the strength required for high-torque applications.

    The chromoly steel flywheel features an integrated ring gear and precision register that locates the clutch for optimal balance - eliminating the loose-fitting bolts and dowels used with stamped steel designs. This assembly is internally balanced and ready to install on any Chevy Small Block or Big Block with a 6-bolt crankshaft pattern. Compatible with OEM release bearings; for GM TKO/TKX applications with hydraulic release, see item# MD-900-2507-A for an HRB. Pilot bearing and throwout bearing sold separately.
