Description
High-output LS engines demand more than stamped steel clutches can deliver. The Tilton ST-246 solves the torque capacity problem without sacrificing streetability. Unlike many performance clutches on the market, ST-246 clutches were designed from the ground up as a true performance twin-disc clutch - not an OEM-type stamped steel pressure plate with a floater added. This complete assembly delivers racing technology in a package engineered specifically for street/strip use.
The aluminum clutch cover shares technology from Tilton's championship-winning line of OT-Series racing clutches, providing superior strength and balance compared to stamped steel alternatives. The ultra-thick floater plate design enables the solid-hub cerametallic discs to handle extreme torque loads while eliminating the gear rattle common with thinner designs. Proprietary pressure plate materials deliver exceptional heat dissipation - critical for repeated hard launches and track use.
The billet chromoly flywheel features a precision register system that ensures optimal clutch positioning and balance, eliminating the loose-fitting bolt patterns that plague lesser designs. The integrated 168-tooth ring gear reduces weight compared to separate press-fit rings while maintaining the strength needed for high-RPM operation. Since 1972, Tilton Engineering has been the leading supplier of small-diameter racing clutches, with championships in F1, NASCAR, IMSA, IndyCar, SCCA, Formula Drift, and SCORE.
Designed for Chevy LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, and LS7 engines with 6-bolt crank flanges. The 26-spline x 1-1/8" hub pattern provides direct compatibility with TREMEC T56 and TKO transmissions. Can be used with most OEM release bearings. Pilot bearing and throwout bearing not included.
