Description
The shift knob is your primary connection point to the drivetrain during every gear change. This white 5-speed shift ball delivers the durability and feel you need with high-impact polymer resin specifically formulated for automotive applications. Unlike generic plastics that develop stress cracks over time from temperature cycling and repeated use, this material is engineered to handle real-world performance conditions.
The 1-7/8" diameter provides excellent grip surface and comfortable palm contact. The 5-speed shift pattern is applied subsurface, meaning the graphics are embedded within the material rather than printed on top -- they physically cannot wear off from years of shifting. The entire ball is precision machined and polished to a high-gloss finish that resists scratching and cleans easily.
At the core is a brass master insert machined to 16mm x 1.50 threading. This insert is tested to exceed automotive industry specifications: 200 ft-lbs of static pull and 20 ft-lbs of twist torque. Because the knob uses the common 16mm x 1.50 master insert, it accepts MDL's complete line of thread reducing inserts -- so you can adapt it to fit 3/8"-16, 3/8"-24, 5/16"-18, 12mm x 1.75, 10mm x 1.50, and other common shift lever thread sizes. If your shifter doesn't use 16mm x 1.50 threading, just add the appropriate reducer to make it work.
