Key Features
- Solves missing clutch pivot stud boss on late-model 302/5.0L blocks (1979-1995) for mechanical linkage swaps
- Laser-cut, MIG-welded heavy-gauge steel construction with durable powder-coat finish
- Bolts directly to existing bellhousing using two factory mounting bolts - no engine modification required
- Retains original Z-bar clutch linkage geometry for proper clutch fork travel and release
- Purpose-built for 1964-1973 Ford engine swaps using stock Top Loader clutch linkage
- Eliminates the need to source an older block or drill/tap the late-model engine
Description
Late-model Ford 302/5.0L engine blocks (1979-1995) were manufactured without the threaded boss needed to mount the clutch pivot stud for traditional Z-bar mechanical clutch linkage. This creates a significant fitment problem when dropping a roller-cam 5.0L into a 1964-1973 Ford that originally used mechanical clutch actuation with a Top Loader or similar transmission. MDL's retrofit pivot bracket eliminates this compatibility issue, letting you retain your original Z-bar clutch linkage setup while running the newer Windsor small block.
This bracket is precision laser-cut from heavy-gauge steel, then MIG-welded and powder-coated for maximum durability and corrosion resistance. The direct bolt-on design installs using two existing bellhousing bolts - no drilling, tapping, or block modification required. You save hours of fabrication time and frustration while ensuring the pivot stud sits exactly where Ford engineers intended.
Correct pivot placement matters. When the pivot point is positioned incorrectly, you get incomplete clutch disengagement, accelerated throwout bearing wear, and poor pedal feel. This bracket maintains the factory clutch fork geometry, preserving proper mechanical advantage and full release travel. If you're swapping a late-model 5.0L into an early Mustang, Cougar, Falcon, Fairlane, or other Ford application and want to keep your original mechanical clutch linkage, this bracket is an essential part of the conversion. Made in the USA.
