    Description

    The TREMEC T5Z Super Duty solves the common problem of blown factory T5 transmissions in Fox Body Mustangs while delivering the deep 0.63 overdrive that drops highway RPMs, improves fuel economy, and reduces engine wear. This Z-spec variant represents a significant step up from the 3.35-first-gear. The 2.95 first gear with 0.63 overdrive was the motorsports-derived combination originally developed for higher torque applications.

    World Class internals set this transmission apart from earlier non-World Class designs. Carbon fiber synchro rings on all forward gears deliver smooth, consistent shifts even under hard acceleration. The steel front bearing retainer and Cobra-style pocket bearing address common weak points, while tapered carrier bearings and main needle bearings provide the durability that made this platform Ford's choice for performance applications. At just 75 lbs dry, the T5Z fits where larger transmissions cannot - perfect for tight classic car engine bays.

    The 330 ft-lb torque rating is conservative. Real-world testing confirms reliable operation behind 450+ horsepower small-block Fords when paired with DOT-approved street tires. The 1.25-inch forward shifter offset places the gear lever in a more natural position for most Fox Body interiors. Deep overdrive cruising reduces engine temperatures, extends component life, and makes highway driving significantly more comfortable.

    Direct bolt-in replacement for any 1983-1993 V8 Mustang. Also compatible with earlier Mustangs and other small-block Ford applications when paired with the appropriate bellhousing. Requires 2.75 quarts of ATF Dexron III fluid.
