Description
The factory T5 behind your '94-'95 V8 or '94-'98 V6 SN95 Mustang was designed for economy-car duty and compromised gearing. This MDL-enhanced Super-Duty T5 solves both problems: it delivers a higher torque capacity, improved internals, and gear ratios optimized for real street performance. The 2.95 first gear launches harder off the line without over-revving, and the deep 0.63 overdrive drops highway RPMs for quieter cruising and reduced engine temperatures.
World Class construction sets this transmission apart from earlier non-WC units. Tapered carrier bearings and main needle bearings reduce friction and improve durability under load. Carbon fiber synchronizers on all four forward gears (1st through 4th) provide quicker engagement and better high-RPM shifting than bronze-lined rings. The steel front bearing retainer and Cobra-style pocket bearing address the weak points found in OEM aluminum retainers, while the correctly-sized 7.8-inch input shaft ensures proper engagement with the deeper SN95 bellhousing.
MDL builds this transmission specifically for the aftermarket, enhancing the standard TREMEC T5 for SN95 applications. The conservative 330 ft-lb torque rating safely handles street cars up to 450 hp on DOT-approved tires. This is a direct replacement for 1994-1995 Ford Mustang GT, Cobra, and V8 models, as well as 1994-1998 3.8L V6 Mustangs. It can also work with 1999-2004 V6 Mustangs when paired with a speedometer ERA adapter. For other swaps, this transmission fits vehicles using the '94-'95 bellhousing with a seven o'clock fork opening, or Fox body bellhousings with MDL's MD-401-2110 spacer plate.
Replaces Ford part numbers 1352-238, 1352-242, 1352-246, 1352-252, and 1352-253. Uses 2.75 quarts of ATF Dexron III fluid.
